Fred
Chan is chairman of the board of Vialta, Inc. Prior to founding
Vialta, Inc., Chan founded ESS Technology, Inc. in 1985 where
he still presides as chairman of the board. Chan was president
and chief executive officer of AC Design, Inc., a VLSI chip
design center, providing CAD, engineering and design services.
He previously served as president and chief executive officer
at CADCAM Technology, Inc., a CAE system development company
that he also co-founded. His earlier experience includes various
engineering and management positions at EMI and Intel. Chan
received B.S.E.E. and M.S.C. degrees from the University of
Hawaii. |

Yin-Wu
Chen joined Vialta, Inc. in 2001 as vice president of
engineering, bringing over 15 years of consumer electronics,
networking and telecommunications experience. Prior to
Vialta, Inc., he was cofounder, president, and chief executive
officer of PROTON Communications, a Taiwan-based company,
developing videophones, network computers, CCD cameras,
CCTV monitors, and digital recorders. He also served as
executive vice president of the parent company, PROTON
Electronic Industrial, a brand-name manufacturer of consumer
electronics, and was responsible for the overall operations
of the 650-person company with production and sales channels
in Taiwan and overseas.
Earlier in his career, Chen was with AT&T Bell Laboratories
in New Jersey and worked on various networking projects.
Chen received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Pennsylvania with a dissertation on radar
signal processing using a non-linear spectral estimation
algorithm. He also has an M.S.E.E. from the University
of Pittsburgh and a B.S.E.E. from National Taiwan University.
